Best Fitting Jeans

With jeans, it is all about the fit. If you want to look good in your pair of jeans, you have to make sure that the pair of jeans you are wearing fits just right on you. Fit is the first rule in holding off your own in a pair of jeans. Otherwise, the jeans you are wearing will emphasize all the not so desirable features of your body that you would rather hide instead of flattering your overall silhouette.

No matter how much we preach about the importance of having the right fit, the fact is that finding the pair of jeans that fits just right is no easy task to accomplish. Many women spend hours inside a department store just trying on jeans but going on empty-handed. It is a tedious thing, trying to find jeans that are the perfect fit.

However, if you come to a department store or a clothing boutique prepared, your chances of finding the perfect pair of jeans get a boost. How do you find the best-fitting jeans for you? Here is what you should do.

Know Your Body Type

The first step to getting the right pair of jeans for you is to know your own body type. Find out if you are top-heavy (amply busted), bottom-heavy (wide-hipped), rectangular (not much on curves) or hourglass (curvy). There are cuts and styles of jeans that flatter certain body types more, and going for those cuts and styles that suit you best will do your figure well.

Measure Yourself

Grab a measuring tape and measure your own hips and waist. If it is possible, get a friend to do it for you. When you measure your hips, encircle the tape on the fullest section of your body, which is the area between the top of your thighs and your waist. Make a measure of your inseam as well by taking the tape to your crotch down.

Take Your Time Shopping

Armed with your numbers, compare them to the sizing chart when you go to the store or when you shop online. Bear in mind that most of the time, the jean size that fits your measurement is actually one size smaller than your actual size. The pair of jeans you should buy should be one that fits you comfortably around your hips, where you are biggest.

Signs that You Found It

How do you know that you have found the perfect pair of jeans for you? You know that the pair of jeans you got is right for you if:

  • You can crouch down and move easily while wearing them.
  • The jeans does not wrinkle or fold too much on you when you are wearing them.
  • Your rear does not show, even if the pair of jeans is a low-rise pair.
  • The waist button fastens without giving you problems, and certainly without you having to lie down.
  • The fly remains flat.
  • The length is just a little bit longer.

And there you have it... now you can go to a nice cruise.
